Just One

A human being is a person, an individual. Humanity is impersonal; families, tribes, nations, empires and races. It is generations. It is languages. It is religions. It is male and female.

God grieved in his heart and repented he made man upon the earth.

Individuals are sacrificed in the feuds of families and in the wars of tribes, nations and empires. The races dislike themselves and other races. The old exploit the young and the young forsake the old. People associate with those they have little in common with other than language… and shun those they have much in common with other than language. What should be spiritual is worldly instead, and divides rather than unites. Men dominate women and women subvert men.

Humanity is an abject failure.

A human being is a lonely creature. He loses himself in the crowd, whether it be his family or tribe or nation or empire or race. He explains himself as his generation. He speaks a language with nothing to say. His religion is what he believes, not what he lives. His sex is all about sex, and nothing more.

A human being must transcend his humanity. He shall languish otherwise, whether in vanity or despair. As a man he must be dauntless and as a woman he must be nurturing. His religion must be truth-- and his way of life accordingly. He must speak the truth, regardless of language, and for all to hear. His generation is his moment and he shall not squander it. He is faithful to the empire he lives in, and is loyal to his nation, tribe and family. He stands out in the crowd, for he is truly an individual. He takes personal initiative to do what is right, as the friend of all who would be friendly.

Pride shall not avail you. Losing yourself in one crowd or another renders you a nonentity. No matter your herd, you shall be a lamb gathered for the slaughter.

Of all the countless human beings ever made or to be made, a mere twenty-four shall be individuals in the presence of God. Everyone else gets filed away or thrown away.

Take care!

  1. A little appreciation goes a long way. We should treat people as individuals not so dissimilar from ourselves. Everyone has something to contribute, whether they do so or not.

    1. Live in the Spirit of Friendship, you mean. Be friendly unto all and you shall clearly discern the good from the evil no matter the other things about them.

  2. Humanity was and is a failure, except one...The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Without Jesus a man is lost and really has no reason to not despair. Our only salvation is to follow The Way and live for Friendship. We should be humbled by this shame but not let it crush us. We can all carry our cross with his help. This life is a fleeting moment, and a moment of Truth at that. To live for the worldly is to reject salvation, Friendship and Compassion are the tools of the righteous Carpenter.

    1. Every life is a moment of truth, indeed. You choose whether to be a friend unto all or a friend to none. To be a friend unto all is to wish everyone well and act accordingly. To be otherwise is to forsake yourself and others out of laziness and to sell your soul for passing fancies.

  3. The nice thing about God is he gave us all the ability to choose. That means we can and will ultimately choose one path or the other. This was likely going to happen regardless but it doesn't mean it's completely a good thing. We do need to separate the wheat from the chaff though, at least by the end of all this.

    1. Yes. The world was not made a hell by God. It was turned into a hell by those who inhabit the world.
