Luck

We succeed or fail in life. Even if successful, we suffer failures along the way. Even if in failure, we enjoy successes along the way. Our lives do come to fruition, for better or worse. They end in triumph or tragedy. Most deaths, the end of most lives, are inconsequential, making no real difference whatsoever… and that is the greatest tragedy of all.

You fancy yourself the master of your own destiny? You are not your own source. You did not come from you. Your every ability is endowed. You can make the most of these abilities, but they are limited by your nature and the reality it is born of and bound to. You may die because of you, but you do not live because of you.

You succeed or fail by luck. It is not by sheer luck, however. You are lucky if you are born with talent and have opportunities. If you squander your talents and opportunities, however, you shall live as if suffering from bad luck. You are unlucky if born with meager talent and are denied opportunities. If you make the most of what little you have, however, you shall have much as if blessed with good luck.

People die being careless. People die being careful, too. The careless are lucky when they survive. The careful are unlucky when they perish.

Do good luck charms work? Well, they are part of every culture and every era, so I suppose so. There must be something to such things being universally believed in. That goes for cursed items as well, however.

Notions of “equality” or “equity” or “fairness” are the wishful thinking of people who expect the “equality” or “equity” or “fairness” to favor one person or group over another. In other words: Such ideas are fake even to those who believe in them. They are insincerity as sophistry and nothing more.

I bear witness that “luck” is real. It is the thing that confounds the wise and thwarts the mighty. It is never the decisive factor, however. It simply provides opportunities unexpectedly. It undermines the seemingly invincible, giving the disadvantaged a chance. It seems that God incorporated luck into his creation so that knowledge and power are not enough to assume control. How can they in a universe where anything is possible?

Luck is more often good than bad… but people are more often bad than good. The evils of the world are not because we are unlucky… but because people are evil. Our misfortunes are typically because of sin; the sins of others if not our own.

GOOD LUCK… and God bless you.

Weight of the World

Men are stronger than women and women are stronger than children. In a world of good people, this means men protect women and women protect children. In this world of sin it means men are contemptuous of women and women are contemptuous of children. These distinctions are because good people esteem love above all else whereas evil people esteem power above all else. This is why good people reject hate and evil people despise weakness.

The Confederate States of America were wrong because the Confederacy lost the war. The German Empire was wrong because it lost the Great War. Fascism is bad and Communism was good because Communism won the Great Patriotic War. Communism is wrong because it lost the Cold War.

Might does make right. The Golden Rule is indeed “he who has the gold, makes the rules.” The world is what it was and shall always be.

Unlike men, women and children, the angels, the “gods” of this world are immortal. God can kill these immortals, however, and at a whim. He shall kill a third of them. By the ways of this world, God is righteous.

God is not justified by the world, mind you. It acknowledges him, though against him, because he is its only source. Its ways and the ways of heaven, right or wrong, good or evil, are by his design. He is the power worshipped by his enemies.

You may have noticed that those who whine about being mistreated favor those who mistreat them. You may have seen that those who loathe weakness favor the weak. It all makes sense if you realize these attitudes are vanity: PRIDE. The mistreated bask in self-righteous indignation. The weak feel strong among those weaker.

Making the world right is unimportant. It is doomed, and was from the beginning… and good riddance. Doing what is right, for the right reasons, is what matters. Make the effort and you shall thrive whether the world thrives with you or not. Yes, you shall bear the weight of the world, and it may crush you, but that is whether you bother or not. Your fate shall not be bound to the fate of the world, unless you are of the world.
