Speech was not always language. Thoughts and feelings were expressed as sound. The words were not symbols but rather the actual shape and intensity of the things expressed. Lies were corruptive in that they deliberately modified the intensity and altered the shapes. They became like viruses.
God did not create languages. He confounded speech. He scrambled the minds of humans, not to the point of rendering men imbeciles, but enough so that it was difficult to think straight. When the people spoke, they muttered gibberish. People understood some people better than others, and they reconciled their differences to better understand each other. These extraneous compensations developed into languages.
Man is the measure of all things, and has dominion over the creatures of this planet. What was done to man cursed his domain. The animals originally spoke to humans, though not in thoughtful conversations. The lesser creatures of the world were rendered dumb. Some of them have languages of a sort, but barely.
The languages of angels are unlike the languages of men. They were written by God. They are not confounded speech. They are speech on various frequencies. If you actually hear them, you shall understand them, unless the concepts are truly beyond your comprehension.
The Lord of Spirits was offended by what the Ancient of Days did at the Tower of Babel. The Lord of Spirits is the Holy Spirit, the spirit of Truth itself. The confounding of speech was an affront to individuality. It rendered men dumb lest they submit to the rules of a collective. Personalities were now secondary to cultures.
Jesus said unto the Father, the Ancient of Days, “Not my will be done, but your will be done.” Jesus is the Son of Man, the very Word of God. It was the will of the Father that he confound the speech of men. The Word did so. In doing so, he carried the Cross to his death, to satisfy the anger of the Lord of Spirits.
Language of itself is meaningless. Speech of itself was meaningless. What is said is not a matter of its words but rather its spirit. If the words are spiritless, they are meaningless. If they are of unclean spirits, they are demonic. If they are of the Holy Spirit, they are holy. The spirit of the Word of God is the Holy Spirit, thus, the every utterance of God is in all sincerity.
You cannot know God by learning original Hebrew or original Greek or original Aramaic or any other language. You shall know him through Jesus, the very Word of God… or not at all. Read the Bible, of course, but with the understanding that the letter kills but the Spirit gives life. That spirit is the Spirit of Jesus personally, not a mere concept.
